Gloucester District U3A Incorporated

U3A’s are voluntary, self-help organization’s. No qualifications are required to join, neither are qualifications awarded. U3A’s tap the great reservoir of knowledge, skills and experience found amongst the U3A community.

The first University of the Third Age was founded in Toulouse, France in 1972. The idea spread rapidly throughout France and other countries, particularly continental Europe. An international Association of U3As was established by1975. In the latter part of 1984 the first Australian U3As were formed in Melbourne.

The Gloucester District Branch is a relative newcomer to the Australian U3A community, following its inauguration on Wednesday 27th August 2008.

Welcome to 2024

The new year of U3A socializing is almost upon us. Come along to the Enrollment Day which will be held on Tuesday the 6th February at 10am at the Senior Citizens Centre for a morning of socializing. You can join U3A, enroll in Classes, meet members of your Committee and chat with like minded members of the community. Come along and enjoy a morning tea.

It has been a busy time over the summer holidays for your committee as we worked on major upgrades to our Website and introduced a new membership management system known as “Member Wizard”. The major updates to the website included:

  • The MEMBERSHIP page now allows you to sign up as a new member, renew your existing membership and pay your membership fees online.
  • The EVENTS & CLASSES page now keeps you up to date on all of the activities of the Gloucester District U3A and allows you to enroll in any of our classes or register for any of our events. You can also pay any class or event fees with Credit/Debit Card in a secure payment portal known as Stripe.  Member Wizard will now enable us to more effectively manage Waiting Lists.
  • With the view to providing greater transparency for our members, there is now a secure MEMBER PORTAL that gives you the opportunity to keep up to date with all the activities, keep your contact details up to date and give you access to many of the important documents and records of the U3A.
Welcome to Helen Fittler
